Kearsarge South

I ran/hiked the Winslow & Barlow Loop this morning. I chose the reportedly steeper, Winslow Trail to ascend and the supposedly mellower and longer Barlow trail down. They were both tough with rocks, roots and rock slabs.

It was gorgeous at the top:

Next weekend I plan to hike Ragged Mountain and will go longer on the SRK Greenway (Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge) trail. I bought the trail guide last year and now I will finally use it.

It’s Biking Season in NH, finally

Bike Path by I-89

I have a little bit of temperature requirement to go out on my bike – 60 degrees. Today was just about 60 around 1 p.m. so during my lunch break I went for a ride.

Beautiful, green landscapes everywhere!

This morning Winnie and I hiked on the Marjorie Swope Park Trail and it is glorious. All the trees are budding and there is still a big of a stream on the Carter Hill connector trail to West End for Winnie to take a drink. Later that day I pulled a tick out of ear – the times we live in. #ifeellikethereareticksonme

Rye By The Sea Duathlon

2018 race season is underway. It started with the Maine Coast marathon and next up is the Rye By The Sea Duathlon.

Last year I competed in the Wallis Sands Triathlon and this year I’m trying the duathlon. My mom has volunteered at the race for many years and this year she is excited to be a spectator.

I’m still recovering from the marathon but I’m ready to get on my bike and start training for this year’s races.

Black Bear: Mama and cub

Today while hiking in Winant Park in Concord I stumbled upon a big, black bear and her cub. Actually, I just saw a big, black furry blob and a small, cute cub – stopped, called Winnie and started running back to the car.

I know you’re not suppose to run but I did. I’ve never – in all my years of hiking – seen a bear on the trail; much less a mama and her cub.

Winnie was so great – she came to me and we ran back to the car. So scary.

This was us just the day before on a more calm, no-wildlife hike:
